A trick consists of 4 cards, one from each player. The cards are played in turn, clockwise around the table, face up.
The first card played to each trick is called the lead.
If it is your turn to lead, you may play any card in your hand.
After the lead, the next 3 players must follow suit. That is, play a card from the same suit as the lead card, if they have one.
If they cannot follow suit, they can play any card.
The trick is won by the highest card in the suit led. The player that wins the trick leads to the next trick.
Your partnership goal is to win as many tricks as you can. It doesn't matter which partner takes the tricks.
All that counts is the partnership total.
Each player starts with 13 cards, so there are 13 tricks to be won on each deal.
